Restoran Siu Sui has to be one of the best kept secret in KL and probably only known to the locals. Maybe it is because of the secluded location as you need to drive rather deep in a quiet and narrow road to reach this restaurant. The moment you step out of the car, the fresh air is the first thing the greet you. This is because the restaurant is rather deep among the forested area.
Deep fried pig trotter seems to be a more western than asian dish as we are all familiar with the German Pork Knuckers. Chinese style is usually braised with dark soy sauce. This deep fried version is really tasty and not so common so worth trying.
Somehow almost every Chinese restaurant has their signature tofu. I do not quite understand why though. Why not a signature chicken, pork or veggie but signature tofu? Anyway, this indeedlive up to the name of signature tofu as the skin adds texture to the soft tofu on the inside.
Another of their popular dish, the Salted Egg York Squid.
This is a must order dish here, the Batin fish. It is fresh and also inexpensive. I find that the texture of the fish is quite similar to the promfret as it has a very fine texture.
Another of their signature dish, the claypot rice. It is tasty, fragrant and not common in many Chinese restaurants so another reason to order this.
Overall, this is a very enjoyable experience with the refreshing air and traditional style dishes not to mention the rustic setting. Inexpensive like many such Malaysian restaurants so I will for sure make it a point to return next time i go to Kuala Lumpur again.
