Spread the love

Hello there! Welcome to my blog! This blog is generally about food, interesting observations from my travels, my thoughts and some of my hobbies such as golf, history and hopefully art in future. I also enjoys skiing, cycling, hiking, reading (non-fiction books & history mainly), and also spent a considerable amount of time on investment. It is my aim to be able to be financially free so that i can retire early if i really want to in the near future. I hope to be able to share all of these in my blog.

I am in the internet business and in my late forties (ie. at time of writing…) with two young children. Traveling takes up a big part of my working life as my job responsibility is regional, mainly helping the Internet Service Provider and OTTs (Over The Top aka contents) in the Asia Pacific improving their internet connectivity. This includes working with some of the famous names that you hear of all the time. Blogging is a direct beneficiary of such connectivity improvement. I travels about 30-40% of my time so as you can see, this is a lot of material for blogging.

I find blogging very therapeutic and it is like a photographic journal for me where i can record my memories and thoughts somewhere. This is where i can channel my creative energy with no restrictions. It also allows me to relive those memories anytime i want. In a nutshell, this is a blog more for myself than anyone else. I feel incredibly grateful to be able to do what i love that combines my love for traveling and the internet.

The biggest challenge i faced is time as i have more stuffs to blog than the time i have. Thus i have to be rather selective. I started blogging in 2010 on the Blogger.com (blogspot) platform which is free. However, with Blogger.com you do not own your blog (or the domain name) in that sense as it is the platform that owns it or rather google or Blogger.com themselves. Therefore, for the long run i have decided a while ago to register my own domain name and host my blog somewhere but only got the time to finally do it this year. This is a rather major undertaking as though the creation of the domain name and hosting is rather easy, migration from Blogger.com to WordPress is another matter all together. I am not technical by the way although i am in the internet industry as my focus is mainly on the business aspect. In any case. i was really happy that i managed to do that and port all my contents over, a few hundred posts.

I am also always working to improve my blog. I want my blog not only to have rich content, it needs to be easy to read, organised and not too cluttered, visually appealing and easy to navigate. I am still working on the last part as i find that my category is kind of messed up from two different blogging platform so my major task this year is to clean up this part. Once i have the proper structure to my blog, it will be much easier to add posts and contents to it. I am so looking forward to it and I hope you will like the new look too. Oh, by the way, all the photos were taken with my trusty iphone. Have fun!
