I finally had the chance to take the Singapore Airlines premium seat. Somehow the price of the ticket on their premium economy is always significantly higher than other airlines. There was one time I checked from Singapore to London was 70-80% more than Finnair’s premium economy. It is probably due to the high demand for the 5 star so they priced it that way. Well, at least I got this chance to use redemption for our return trip from Japan. I was probably more excited with this than the entire trip. Premium economy is a good option for travelers to pay more for a more comfortable way to travel especially for a longer flight. I will be willing to pay for premium economy when the flight is more than 6 hours.
My take after a 6 hours flight, the seating were pretty comfortable, wider and more leg room. That was especially important considering I am 1.78 metres in height. I liked the wider screen and the head-set which was also noise cancellation like Finnair (ANA only have normal head-set). I was pleasantly surprised when they served champagne during the flight.
However, the wear and tear were pretty noticeable. Finnair premium economy appears a lot more well maintained in comparison. The food was very average with rice soggy and the pork very fatty.
My next trip will be on board the ANA premium economy and couldn’t wait to blog about that experience so stay tuned!
