I was back to the Pontian Fish Market once again. I go there a few times a year. This time around, we bought 3 大版 and each weighing more than 3kgs. I am not really sure what’s the name in Mandarin or English.

They also caught a huge groupa. This is really big and I am not surprised if it weights 6 kg.

These are the fishes we bought. Each one weights about 3kg and cost only RM 50/kg. The biggest weighs 3.3kg so it is RM 165 or SGD 64. Where can you find such rate in Singapore and let alone find such fish. It is hard to find this fish in Singapore anyway. It is best for steaming. I will try to take a picture of how we cook it. It is a better fish that the fish soup you find in hawker center. Those are usually Batan (in Hokkien again) as this  大版 would have cost too much for them to make any money.

Fresh prawns for your pickings.

They also caught quite a few stingrays and also many other strange kinds of fishes. Will try to to take more pictures of those fishes next time.
