I have been to some of the major cities of Australia such as Sydney, Perth and Adelaide but not Melbourne so i was naturally looking forward to it. It is often said to be one of the best cities to live and work. As this is a conference trip, I only have like a day to roam the city. Here is my Melbourne in a day trip.
I went at a pretty good time as the temperature range from 18-28 degrees which makes the place a very comfortable stroll. For this trip, i stayed at the Crown Metropol. This is one of the hotels linked to the Crown Casino so it is a very convenient location where it is linked to restaurants and the mall, all within the same Crown development. It is also near the Yarra River which sits many restaurants and pubs.
H&M is at the GPO (General Post Office) which i think it is one of the most beautiful building in Melbourne. It appears that most of the general post office in the commonwealth countries has very nice designed and are often heritage buildings. You can see that in Sydney, Singapore and both has become the Fullerton Hotel. Well, this could be a prime target for Fullerton too.
The city appears generally less crowded than Sydney and feels more relaxed. Honestly i felt a little underwhelmed and did not really ‘get it’ where it is ranked higher than Sydney as a place to live. That being said, my trip was really short and most of the time i spent indoor for a conference so perhaps cannot do justice to Melbourne. There should be much more if I have more time but that is for another time with my family I hoped. That is all I have for my Melbourne in a day tour.
