I must be living in a cave. It really surprised me to hear that there is such a great wanton mee in the west. One which I have never heard of at all. This is the Lai Fa Ba Wanton Mee restaurant (more of a restaurant than stall) at Bukit Batok Crescent, tucked in a quiet corner of an industrial building (the building is literally at a corner).
When my friend invited me for lunch for a best wanton mee in the west, my mind was like “yeah right”. So good I must have heard of it by now as I am a sucker for good wanton mee. Little did I know that this wanton mee blew my mind. The noodle is springy, thicker and has a texture that I have not tasted before. I like it even better than Eng’s wanton mee. For the char siew, we chose the lean meat type for being more health conscious. This is not the standard portion but the “upsize” which was pretty expensive at around $9 I think. Well, that’s because I am not the one paying you see, it is a treat. Usually you do not pay much attention when someone else is paying.
The location is a little out of place at some ulu bukit batok industrial park. You need to go early or you will not be able to find parking at the basement carpark. Upper floor carparks are all reserved for the office workers. Yeah, definitely 100% will be back.
