I heard about this chicken rice stall from someone and has been wanting to try it ever since. I got the chance last Saturday and was not disappointed. Jew Kit Hainanese chicken rice is located in the basement 1 of Bukit Timah Shopping Centre. This is where my late father used to bring my siblings and us to watch movie on the 5th floor. I just found out that it is occupied by a church. There are many small shops in this old shopping centre and may not appeal to the younger generations now. Unless they come for their tuition or enrichment. I was very surprised to so many tuition centres here.
The chicken is tender and well marinated. You can also order the tofu and braised egg to make your chicken rice complete.
Well, this is not really a traditional chicken rice side dish but the children loves it as it is like french fries. It is the deep fried pumpkin.
The setting is nice an cosy at a quiet corner of basement 1. It can seat many so should not be difficult getting during peak hours. It is one of the cleanest place to have chicken rice. Good service and not as chaotic or dirty as the Wee Nam Kee Chicken Rice at Novena. This will surely become my regular dining places.
