I must be living in a cave for not knowing that there is a Eng’s Wanton Noodle at Westgate. This is despite the fact that I stayed near here and being there so many times. Therefore i make it a point to try it once I heard about it this famous Singapore food is so near me.
I am a big fan of Wanton Mee and here is my own compilation of the best Wanton Mee in Singapore.
The lawsuit that Eng’s Wanton noodle is once again embroiled in brought it to my attention. However, it is too boring and complicated to even follow. I am only keen to try the noodle though.
Eating in cool comfort of a mall
It is located at the basement 2 of Westgate. It is even easier to find now that all entries from the carpark has to go through the basement 2 entrance due to safe entry. Westgate was usually very crowded but now it looks a bit like a ghost town now during covit. I must say it is not exactly encouraging when i walked in as I was the only customer patronizing them but slowly it got a little bit more like…3 more.
How’s the taste?
I ordered the small portion and some fried dumplings. The noodle texture is surprisingly springy or QQ. It is unlike any noodle i have ever tasted and it feels slightly thicker than most. Nevertheless i like it very much as the sauce and chili works for me too.
The fried dumplings is only so so for me as I am not exactly a huge fan of the Wanton whichever the style. Quite an irony considering how much i love Wanton noodles.
So what do i think?
Most definitely i will be back as i can have such quality noodle at the convenience and comfort of a shopping mall. Hopefully they can survive so i better go back more often to support.
