This was another of my live it up moments. To enjoy one of the top steakhouse in Singapore with my buddy. The restaurant this time was the Black Marble restaurant in the Raffles Holland Village Mall. We chose this restaurant because the review on the internet was not too bad so we wanted to see or taste rather for ourselves.
The first thing that struck me when i got to the restaurant was that it was empty. I had never being to a good steakhouse at 7pm and see it empty. I hope this was not a sign of things to come but i put my premonition aside to give this restaurant a shot regardless. It was the same weekend that the new One holland V opened so that could be the reason as most shoppers would go there instead.
We ordered starters like the grilled octopus and mushrooms which was one of the more tasty dish.
We ordered the 45 days dry aged Op rip beef from Australia which was 600 grams, to be shared by two of us. The meat was rather tasty but some parts of it was very tough and not so cooked. I feedback to the waiter but was told awkwardly that’s how dry age beef was meant to be in a vain attempt to brush it off. Probably the waiter was afraid of the chef or just can’t be bothered as that was definitely not the right way to handle feedback. To be fair, my friend enjoyed it but he agreed some parts were uncooked. We ordered medium rare but some parts were more rare than medium rare.
The total damage was SGD263 that includes a glass of wine. Will I go back? Absolutely not. Not worth the price we paid. Of all the steakhouse i had being to, this ranked quite well at the bottom. Even the no frills economic isteak is better than this. Speaking about isteak, i hope I can go back to try again. It was surprisingly good as I did not expect the steak to be of that standard being so reasonably priced.
