This is my first time taking the Lufthansa flight on premium economy seats from Singapore to Lisbon transiting Frankfurt. I was rather looking forward to it mainly to this trip so that i could compare their premium economy service with the others. So far I have already tried Singapore Airlines and Finnair so this will be my third airline.
The first impression of the premium economy seats are that they don’t look very premium nor exclusive. The premium economy sections are actually just in between rows of the economy seats with no partitions unlike Singapore Airlines or Finnair. The seats is 20 inches or 50.8cm wide and the recline at 38 inches or 96 cm seems good though. I actually paid extra (SGD89) for the extra legroom which happens to be at the emergency exit.
The blanket provided was really comfortable and very important for a long haul flight as it usually gets cold. This is one of the best blanket ever in my opinion.
I was rather disappointed by the amenities kit that was from Posche design. It did not feel premium and material felt rather flimsy.
Shortly after take off at 2340 hours, we were served with dinner. It is beef tenderloin for me and it was actually quite tasty and tasty considering it was an inflight meal. The papaya salad was a little bit spicy.
Breakfast was really normal with plenty of cheese.
The idea of premium economy I suppose was somewhat decent privacy and exclusivity. This could not have been a worst example. I paid extra for the extra leg room space so my leg space was fantastic though no human requires that much leg room so it was overkill. However, the toilet was just right in front of me and this was what i got. At times, there could be queues of 7-8 in front or beside me which I really wasn’t too thrilled about. Also the onboard entertainment screen appears a little small too.
This was the return leg of my journey. My apologies for the poor picture quality as there were quite alot of people and I did not want to make them wait. For the return leg, I did not choose the normal seating without paying any extras.
The normal economy seat leg room was really very decent as you can see from the pictures.
I am 1.78M tall with rather long legs and i still had plenty of leg rooms. I had the most comfortably ride back home ever.
The dinner or supper for my return flight, chicken breast with mash potatoes.
The Lufthansa lounge was simple and modern with impressive range of alcohols and interestingly ice creams.
As I had about 2.5 hours of layover at Frankfurt international airport, I decided to give the shower a try. It was no frills but rather decent. Definitely cannot compare with the shower at ANA but as long as it is clean I am fine.
Very surprised with such branded toiletries.
Lufthansa’s premium economy was indeed a very comfortable and reasonably priced for long haul trips. The partner program is Star Alliance so if you are a member it allows you to clock mileage to an Star Alliance member of your choosing. I would definitely take Lufthansa’s premium economy again for any long haul trips to Europe from Asia but not the extra legroom at the emergency row. The normal premiums seats are actually good enough for.
