When i was younger, mid-life was naturally far from my mind. Now that i am in my late forties, it is something that often crept up and i realised that it is such a big and broad topic. There are always things to remind me that things are not the same as before such as my fitness. Body parts start to wear and tear and it takes longer time to heal once you are injured. This is a big difference. Mentally somehow i still feel really young. Maybe that is why they say man matures later than woman. I think i still feel like i am in my thirties. Many thoughts came to mind as i am in my mid life such as the basic like how do i start healthy and fit, what should i do when i retire, to the more philosophical like how can i find more fulfillment and meaning to my life from here on.
The early part of our lives or the first half are mainly spent on pursuing our education, dating, starting a family and building a career. It is probably the more stressful part of our life. I think the next half maybe more about planning for retirement and life after that. It might be worth spending some time on this planning as i certainly want my second half of my life to be meaningful and fulfilling. I hope to share about the things that comes to my mind and also my thoughts about life for my second half. I called it second half following a book i read many years ago called HalfTime.
Basic idea is how the author changed his life and live the second half of his life after the death of his son. A very interesting book which set me thinking about life ahead of me or rather whatever that is remaining. I have not really got that all figured out yet but i will write as i go along this journey of discovery.
